How to disable a user in Notes/Domino R6

By pmccourt ·
I want to find a good procedure to disable users from Lotus Notes/Domino.

Currently users are deleted and all is lost, however in future I'd like 'departing' users to be disabled(just in case they return, which we hope they do), but still have them removed from their groups without it being a manual process (going through each group).

Thanks in advance

you make a no access group and put them in there. that overrides any other groups they are in and blocks them. make sure you understand what web access is available and block access there also if necessary. you may not think you use web access but html server may be starting up. check it out in the notes.ini file on the server...
you are right, deleting no good. they did it that way here also until i got here. probably paid the guy more than me too (yes, i will have a little cheese with my whine, thank you)

unless you know for sure you don't have it, you probably have limited support with ibm. they will try to refer you to outside contractor for anything but simplest questions you didn't need them for anyway. but, they are hurting for market share and a little polite insisting will go a long way towards getting someone on the phone who will explain this stuff. just persist politely.
the notes website is really great. check out the 'red books'. they are free for download and awesome. there is one on security that will answer your question above. also try help inside notes. it is difficult to figure out at first but later a great resource. i even make databases now and very quick to develop. quicker than microsoft but not as intuitive a user interface if you ask me. if you are running on linux or thinking of it they extra eager to help you.
next time you post remember to post notes version, domino type and version. if you don't know how to tell, just say so...
