how to find out which service pack is installed on a computer

By c4morrish ·
I recently found that my service pack 3 update did not install properly according to windows updater. How do i check which service pack is installed to verify that it was not installed? If it is not installed how do you get the update on microsoft's website? I can find the other updates for SP3 but not the one for windows just the ones for office and things like that. Thanks for your help.

Click on 'Start'. Right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties' from the drop-down menu.

On the initial 'General' screen it'll tell you which flavour of Windows and which Service Pack you currently have installed.

Click Start, Run and type winver and press Enter. It works in Vista and Windows 7 as well.
