Find the location and path of the files in the system directory. Find someone else that has a 98 machine. Copy the files from their machine to disk. Paste and overwrite the old files.

Ok, first find the location of the file you want to replace. Better write it down if it’s complicated. Click the start button, then go to
Programs>>Accessories>>System Tools and choose “System Information”
From here, click on the tools menu and select “System File Checker”
Select “Extract one file from installation disk”
Type the name of the file, click start
It’ll ask where the file goes (what you looked up before) and where your cab files are. Cab files might be on your hard drive, but if you want to be safe, use the install cd. This will make sure you don’t get a corrupt copy. It’ll also ask you if you want to back up the current file. Definately do this in case something goes wrong.
