How to get into fiber optics

How do you get into a career in fiber optics out of high school? I am in a computer networking course and plan to go into fiber optics or perhaps other electrical work, any remote IT jobs I am willing to do too.

Fiber is just a medium to transfer a lot of data between two locations or devices. Nothing special. I doubt if there ever were careers in Ethernet or twisted pair cables.

Here in the Netherlands most fiber optic work is done by low-paid immigrants wiring whole towns with fiber cables bringing internet and TV to the home of subscribers. I assume that’s not what you want. And let me note it’s not electrical, it’s light.

In my specific area, fiber optics is a high paid skill and requires many certifications, and I know that its not electrical, but they are similar in the cabeling aspect, and I am focusing on IT and electrical work, as they have a lot of similarities.

Sadly it’s low paid technician work.

Fiber optics is very well paid in my area and is my current career focus, your other contributions on here are all sarcastic and negative. Maybe keep opinions to yourself when its not asked

Here in the USA you wouldn’t make enough to pay rent.
