Start from scratch

Start with a blank hard drive.
Create a partition for each OS, plus at least one for sharred data files.

Install the oldest OS first in the lowest letter (C:) drive
I'm not sure about Me, but W2K and W XP give you the option to install them in a dual or multi-boot mode when you select a custom install and direct them to use a different disk than the existing OS.

If you format the W2K partition NTSF, you will not be able to access that drive from Me or 9X.

For more information, check out the boot.ini page at www.systeminternals.com

I use VM Ware (Virtual Machine) to run Win NT in a window on my W98 box. http://www.vmware.com/

Multiple OSs

I have found the cleanest way to do this is to create a separate partition for each OS you want to install. I like Partition Magic for that. Then I use System Commander to manage the OS boot choices. Each time you boot Sys Cmdr gives you the choice of booting any of the installed OS. Neat and clean.
