How to integrate and test custom lenses on Android phones

I am looking to develop some custom camera lenses and test them, specifically for use with Snapdragon 888 on Android phones. I’ve found it very difficult to find any resources that would help me with hardware integration (chip and sensor selection, for example), and was hoping someone here might know of a good place for me to turn.

Chips and sensors are hardware, Android is software. Hardware can be different between models and makers.
So better start with one target phone to find the details of.

Thank you. We were actually looking at working with the Snapdragon 888 HDK (https://developer.qualcomm.com/hardware/snapdragon-888-hdk), but I’ve been having trouble finding documentation or useful forums for how we can interface with it using custom lenses

I see they have
– 6x MIPI CSI with support for 3D camera configuration
– Sensor input/output

Surely they have documentation on how to connect your stuff to their product. Without documentation nobody would use it.

I have to agree with Kees. You can’t design one lens that will work on all phones due to the inherent differences between makes and models. The saying “One size fits all” does not apply here.

You don’t design a lens based on the type of processor or operating system used by the phone. It would be easier to contact the phone manufacturers directly based on your latest response.

There are a number of different lenses you can attach to a smartphone camera. They all have different focal lengths and affect the final image differently. Super wide-angle lens: Also known as an ultrawide-angle lens, it has an even wider angle-of-view than a wide-angle lens.
