How to link MS Access to alternate file types

By cholt2064 ·
I would like to link MS Access to 5 files that are generated daily. The problem is that the files have a .log extension which Access does not recognise. The files contain no unknown characters, and I can link them successfully when I alter the ext to txt. However, this defeats the purpose of linking them. Is there any way to make MS Access Recognise the .log extension?

This seems to be an overview of Access. I am familiar with Access, but I can't figure out how to link to a file that does not have a commonly recognized extension (.log). My answer may be in here somewhere, but I can't seem to find it right now. Thank you for the response though!

To be frank, i do not think Access does this..

It will only do it through third party software, but even then it might struggle.

I have just found this that might help you with the problem, you will need to read it all to make sense of it:
