How to network small office (wired)?

I am needing “step by step” info on how to network my small office. I have a Linksys 8-port router Model EZXS88W, 4- computers all running Windows XP-Pro, 3-printers (2-Hp, 1-Epson, 1-internet provider.
I had them all networked before but while I was out of the office due to a back injury someone that my employer “thought” they knew what they were doing has completely screwed the whole thing up. I have tested the “Ping” to each computer and that seems to be o.k. But I am at a loss as to what and how to do next.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Check that the ip assigned to the router is user as gateway in all the computers eg: 192.168.1.1
Then check the ip’s in all the computers are in series of the router i.e. between 192.168.1.2 – 192.168.1.254
The default subnet will be 255.255.255.0 in all computers.
Check that the sharing is enabled in all the computers.
Rest give me the exact error you are getting while accessing the network so I can help you out.

So you can ping each workstation, make sure they are all in the same workgroup or domain. Check your permissions on your shares.

Could you please tell us what stage you are at with the network and what exactly you want it to be like at the endup? I know you said that you can ping all the IP’s, but what is it that you can’t do? if you need a full step by step from the ground up mail me with details of your workgroup, printer connections, and WAN Acess Point and I’ll send you a full breakdown.
