How to open Exel file when locked?

Hi folks,

I’ve got a teacher who somehow locked herself out of a file on her Zip disk. She probably did not exit Excel properly before popping the disk or something like that. And of course, this file is the ONLY copy of her grades for that classduring that period of the day.

So, of course when we try to open it, we get a file locked error. Cannot open the specified file. Windows (98 if it matters) appears to think that it’s being read somewhere else or the “server it is stored on has become unavailable”.

Does anybody know how to get around this?
