How to overclock a video card

By cfizz34 ·
Where do I begin to change the settings on my Nvidia Ti4200 8x vidio card so that I can overclock it?

Never heard of overclocking a videocard before.

Overclocking a cpu yes, but videocard?

Videocards speed will typically come from the amount of memory installed on it.

Overclocking these days is more of a novelty. No one (at least that I know) even bothers. Why try to over clock a PIII 450 when you can buy a 2.4 ghz machine.

Same with a video card, a 128 meg videocard these days run's for around $99. It's practically silly.

apparently you can overclock it. (god only knows why, maybe i'm just not geeky enough)

although, while I was reading the results, it just seemed silly to go thru the hassel.

But here's how you do it.

Another option would be to invest in a small welding kit. Take the welder and once ignited, hold flame over video card for approximately 2-3 minutes (or until golden brown). I imagine in time the over clocking will have the same effect.
