How to prioritise iPhone Contacts iCloud sync? Is there shortcut to toggle iCloud sync for all apps?

I need help with Quick Step toggling iCloud sync for apps that have iCloud enabled.
I have only two hours every evening access to trusted WiFi but this is not long enough; Apple Support advised me to connect to trusted WiFi all night long to try resolve recently added contacts missing from iCloud; (everything else is iCloud synced except recently added contacts). Trusted WiFi all night long is not financially possible when my broadband isn’t at where I spend my nights.

After reading your other thread about this issue, I get the impression this is a bug that only Apple can solve or that you want something that is impossible. Your problem isn’t really clear.

Anyway, I’d suggest to find a work-around, like:
      – backing up (only) your contacts to another location, like a USB-stick. Be sure you know how to restore it.
      – do a full backup with iTunes (locally, not to the cloud)

Also note that sync is not the same as backup. Since sync takes a few seconds, it’s quite unclear why 2 hours shouldn’t be enough, if you do it the right way. A backup of many GB over a slow WiFi could take hours indeed.

      https://www.computerworld.com/article/2916476/how-to-fix-icloud-sync-in-seconds.html might help.

Note that it doesn’t mention the word “backup” that you used in your first post https://www.techrepublic.com/forums/discussions/anyone-had-better-backup-experience-with-itunes-when-icloud-backup-is-lossy . That made it rather confusing if it’s not about backup at all.

Photos, videos are much larger in data size but has no sync nor backup issues.
The only problem I could suspect is Microsoft Windows 10 sync caused 30 times duplication of each contact.
Apple Support said iCloud is intelligent enough to skip redundant contacts.
So I am trying something new instead.
Buying faster phone is financially hard to swallow just to avoid risk of losing my recent contacts if I don’t have the time for iTunes backup

Did you do what’s in the Force Sync part of the link to computerworld. That should force a sync in a few seconds. That’s what you wanted, isn’t it?

Buying a faster phone makes no sense at all. If you do the same things on a new phone as you do now, it won’t make any difference.

Apple support did everything mentioned. System Status is restricted to them

Thanks for your reply but Apple support went through all suggestions made here.
System Status is restricted to Apple Tech support but I remember they said should be available on Desktop. I am reluctant to buy Apple desktop just for troubleshooting.

Not only add them to Contacts, but also add them to some document. Documents are synced or backed up, you say, so you’ll always have access to them.
The worst that can happen is that you have to enter them again when you buy a new iPhone. But the advantage is that it’s totally free.

Consider disabling iCloud sync for apps you rarely use and don’t need contacts access. This frees up bandwidth and prioritizes syncing your essential contacts.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a direct shortcut or quick step to toggle iCloud sync for specific apps on the iPhone. iCloud syncing is typically managed at the system level rather than per-app.

However, you can manually toggle iCloud sync for Contacts in the iPhone settings. Here’s how you can prioritize iCloud sync for Contacts:

      1. Open the “Settings” app on your iPhone.
      2. Tap on your Apple ID at the top, then go to “iCloud.”
      3. Find “Contacts” in the list of apps using iCloud.
      4. Toggle the switch next to “Contacts” to turn it off.
      5. Wait for a few seconds and then toggle it back on.

This manual toggle may help force a sync of your contacts to iCloud. Remember to perform this action when you have access to a trusted WiFi network.

If you’re looking for a more automated solution, you might want to explore third-party apps or automation tools available on the App Store. Some apps offer advanced automation features, but it’s essential to carefully review their capabilities and user reviews to ensure they meet your requirements and are trustworthy.

Keep in mind that iCloud syncing for Contacts should normally occur in the background when your device is connected to WiFi and charging, but the manual toggle can sometimes kickstart the process.

      Certainly, here’s a shorter version:

Open Settings, tap your Apple ID, and go to iCloud settings.
Toggle off and on Contacts to manually trigger iCloud sync.
Ensure a stable Wi-Fi connection during this process.
If possible, extend the time your device is connected to Wi-Fi in the evening for a more extended sync window.
For a global iCloud sync toggle, currently, there isn’t a built-in feature. If issues persist, contact Apple Support for further assistance or check for iOS updates.
