How to reject mail to deleted Exchange u

    Locked

    by mcrowley ·

I’ve got several users who apparently were on mailing lists before they left our company. I’ve deleted their accounts, and now I get their e-mail because I’m set up to receive Admin messages. Since Exchange doesn’t recognize the e-mail address, itsends me the NDR. What I’m trying to do is have the IMC reject the e-mails that go to the deleted users, so they neither show up in my box or clutter up the server space. How can I accomplish this on Exchange 5.0 or 5.5???

Your IMC IS rejecting the e-mails that go to the deleted users – what is annoying you are the NDRs telling you it has done so.

Two strategies for dealing with this – first would be to set up a rule to delete them as they are received by your Outlook client.

The second would be to go into Exchange Administrator, highlight Connections, double-click Internet Mail Service and choose Internet Mail tab. To the right of the Administrators mailbox, there is a button called Notifications. On thepage that pops up, you can define a notification set that does not include homeless e-mail.
