How to setup auto install on XP using scripts

Hi. I need help coming up with the best way to install programs over the network automatically using scripts. I never have done this before but it would really be a big help to our I.T. department in the long run. Any help as far as good links to a site or anyone with experience doing this would surely be appreciated. Thanks
