How to tell sfc to look elsewhere

By thedupuisr ·
How do I tell sfc (system file checker) to look on the hard drive for the install files rather than the cd?

Install Path

By Default, SFC (at least on a W98 system uses the Windows install path as the source for the files.

So, you need to edit the registry to change the install path to match the location of the Cabinet files on your hard drive.

On XP, I think that there is a path statement.

Just look over the switches for SFC on the SFC page in Help and Support.
