How to uninstall MS IE from Windows NT4

By thaitrinh ·
Hi,

I am having problem to bring up the IE browser from my desktop PC
running Windows NT4.0 OS. The problem occurred right after
I installed a number of the security patches. Now, each time
I open the IE brower, a MS IE window pop-up indicated that it has
encountered a problem and needs to close with 2 buttons "Send Error Report"
and "Don't Send". When I click on either the button from the pop-up
window, the IE browser will close. So, I want to remove it and fresh
re-install but I am not be able to remove it completely from the
Add/Remove Program. The Add/Remove Program is only allowed me to
select the following options but not remove everything:
+ Add a component
+ Repair Internet Explorer
+ Restore the previous Windows configuration.

I have tried all of these option and the problem still remain the same.
The version I am currently using is IE 6.0

Could someone provide me a solution on how to go about remove the
MS IE completely?

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Thai

I don't know if this works with NT, but here is a link to IE Eradicator.

This program un-installs IE.

I suggest after removing IE that you try one of 2 options.

Mozilla www.mozilla.org
Is a very nice browser with some good features, including a built in pop-up blocker.
It is also about 1/2 the size of IE to download.

Use IE 5.5 SP2 with older versions of Windows.

The "restore the previous Windows configuration" should drop you back to the basic version of IE that comes with Windows NT - I think it's either 3.0 or 4.0, but I don't quite remember. Once you get that done, first reapply your latest service pack, and then re-install your latest version of IE (6.0). Be sure to use the latest service release for IE 6.0, also. Hope this helps!

Hi Thai,

Select Restore previous version. This'll revert back to your older version of IE,ie 2.0
Then delete Internet exploer fro the Plus folder.
Then remove internet explorer entry from Registry.
Use Regedit and remove from HKEY_LOCAL_MAXCHINE\software....

Then reinstall IE

Hope this helps...
