How To Use BACK/FORWARD w/FrontPage

By tina.m.miller ·
I am currently working on my personal web site using MS FrontPage 98. In the monthly daybook, I use a calendar in the controlling frame and show the quote of the day in the second slave frame. I need to enable the BACK/FORWARD option and/or add a navigation bar. However, BACK/FORWARD only affects the SLAVE frame and I simply haven't been able to get a navigation bar to work.

Any suggestions? You can check out the pages at: http://members.fortunecity.com/elspeth_brightwing/index.htm

While editing the slave screen you should be able to insert\navigation. Or you could simply put the word BACK on the page and use hyperlink to return to previous.

The only frame that is affected is the slave no matter where you put the navigation. In other words, the split frame remains no matter what you do.

If you are trying to return HOME or even the previous page, insert a navigation bar and then edit the properties of the navigation bar by right clicking on bar, and then check either CHILD PAGES or CHILD PAGES UNDER HOME, check HOME and PARENT under additional pages, and check whether you want horizontal or vertical and button or text.
This should work however I don't know the tree structure of your pages under INDEX.

Same problem - only one of the frames is affected. I have a frame page with a calendar control and a quotation slave. Where do I put the navigation bar to get it to clear both frames?

HI Millertm,
Its easy to get back to the index.htm from frames page. Just do this....

On the jan.html page which is displayed on the left side frame, add a link like this
<a href="index.htm target="_top">Home Page</a>

Link like will take you back to the index.htm without frames.

Hope this solve your problem.

Good Luck...:)
