how2 add large # of Contacts to an Outlook distrib list all at once?

By jimredfield ·
I can easily select a large group of Contacts in Outlook, but how do I then "import" that group into a new Outlook Distribution List in one pass? Adding names onesy-twosey would take a while. Tnx in advance. - Jim

You can hold down the CTRL or SHIFT key as you scroll through the list selecting members. In addition, you can add other distribution lists to the new distribution list. Just be careful of duplicate entries.

thanks for the help

What I was hoping for was a way to move a sub-selected a bunch of Contacts (selected based on a custom field we use) and then hit a magic button to move the bunch into a Distrib List all at once, without any individual selection. But thanks for the help anyway. - Jim

for really large lists

If you have way too many contacts to be added, using CTRL or SHIFT can be dodgy - one mistake and you have to start all over again. Instead, create a new contacts sub folder, make it available to the address book (right click > properties on folder name) and copy all relevant contacts, perhaps by filtering with category first. Then in the dist list creation dialog, choose all contacts from the new folder.
