hp comp 2k to xp

have a hp Pavillion computer and I'm looking to change it from windows 2k to xp home edition. is that possible?

But you may run into issues with requiring more RAM and HDD Space.

You need to test it with the XP Compatibility Tester before proceeding to make sure that there are no Hardware Issues that would prevent this unit running under XP

But if you can add more RAM and if necessary a Faster CPU it will not be much of an issue.

XP is much bigger than 2000 and this is bigger than 98 so it's more of a resource hog than the previous Windows OS's. Just like Vista is slower on the same hardware than XP is today.

While it may be slower this doesn't mean that the computer will not be usable just slower. Depending on what you plan to do it may not be an issue for normal Desktop work like Browsing the Web Collecting E-Mail and just general Word Processing not a problem but if you want to play High End Games suitable for Vista then I wouldn't be holding my breath waiting as it's very likely to cause problems for you.
