HP laptop screen no backlight, replaced screen, still no backlight

by psone . Updated 18 years, 4 months ago

hi,

i have a hp nx9010 laptop, the screen recently went very dull (can barely make out anything) and i dont know what to do! i pluged an external monitor in and it works fine. i have replaced the entire lid (not just lsd panel) but still doesnt work!?! which i think rules out inverter (unless inverter is on the main board??) im guessing there something on the main board that has failed, any ideas? battery is stuffed so always runs on ac power. i was trying to reinstall win xp when it died.

edit: FIXED. new problem below…

i think the lid switch that was faulty/stuck, i got a small screwdriver in there and tapped it, and screen came back on, perfect color, etc, however it was my parts screen, which came off a my lower spec laptop and doesnt display resolution that my original one did (1400×1050) so i swap screens back and now my old (original) screen is very flickery and id displaying red where is should be black, very flickery! unusable, also color looks to be 8bit, definitly not the 32bit that its set to. i have reinstalled driver, removed driver, no change.
