    by batt_maker ·

The following machine starts with a black screen saying that the fan is not work and will shut down in 5 seconds unless f2 is hit. while this occurs the fan is running fine. however if i hit f2 the os loads but the fan cuts out. Do i need a replacement of is it another problem that is controlling the fan because its strange that it comes on shortly and works fine. if checked the wire and the connection to the mother board and they are fine. any help would be great.

Plugged into the CPU Fan Socket on the M’Board. Some of these M’Boards have several different sockets available and if the Fan is plugged into the wrong one this will happen.

You could also open the BIOS nd navigate to the Hardware Settings and enable FAN Support for the CPU as well as anything else that is available. It is always possible that the issue here is related to a incorrect setting in the BIOS.
