HP scanjet scuzzi in conflict with irq 3

By gmichaels ·
I'm trying to get an HP scanjet to run under win95 but am having a resource conflict. The motherboard is circa 1997 with both PCI/ISA slots. Its bios is configured to be all Plug-n-play. All works fine until I try to add the scuzzi ISA card. The plug-n-play wants to assign irq 3 which conflicts with com2. If I disable plug-n-play in the bios I can select legacy device for each IRQ. But I have not treid that yet. The scuzzi card has no jumpers or software to allow me to specfiy an IRQ. Should I disable PnP and set everything to legacy device or can I set IRQs manually in win/system/device driver?

IRQ 3 will be assigned to your COM2 port. Try disabling the port and see if that resolves your problem (rather than go through and configure everything). Disabling the PnP isn't a *big* deal, but you may not have to resort to that...

Good luck!

This can happen if the BIOS (CMOS) has LPT1 to use ECP. Change it to EPP or AT mode. Reboot.
