HP-UX connecting to network when booting

By stevelil ·
How do you stop HP-UX box from trying to connect to network when booting?

Trying to turn it into a stand alone box but when disconnected from network gets stuck with following error message and box won't continue booting.

Error:
*****LAN/9000NETWORKING*****
DISASTER Subsys NS_LS_DRIVER
LAN card interface unit 0 has network problem
Check cable
NFS server not responding, still trying.

The error message you posted shows the system is hanging on nfs mounts. This can prevent it from booting. Edit /etc/rc.config.d/netconf to shutoff the network cards and in /etc/rc.config.d/nfsconf you can shut off nfs services. Make sure you have the hostname set in /etc/hosts and /etc/nsswitch.conf has files before dns.

This should do it.
