HP-Ux OS run on a Compaq Proliant Server

By dadams2 ·
I have a Compaq Proliant 3000 Server with RAID. Can the HP-Unix (11.*) operating system be used with this hardware and what problems can I expect?
Where can I find more information on doing this?

HP-Ux OS run on a Compaq Proliant Server

by erikdr In reply to HP-Ux OS run on a Compaq ...

Nope. HP-UX is solely for the PA-RISC processor architecture as for now, while Proliant uses Intel of course.
HP is very busy porting HP-UX to the Intel Itanium. So within a reasonable timeframe, with future Proliants (with Itanium) it might be possible. However primary purpose of HP's effort is Itanium in the minicomputer and not the normal Wintel servers. So the HP-UX port might start with the 9000 series minicomputer (multiple processors, totally different BIOS style than Proliant) and onlylater with PC-type servers.

At your service,
