Hyperlink changes

By jfrenelle ·
I am in a situation where the company I am working for would like to change the tree structure for thier engineering files on the server. The drawings however are hyperlinked to a number of the file locations that will be effected by the reorganization of file folders. There are hundreds of AutoCad drawing files in an Excel listing hyperlinked to there present locations. Is there a way to do any sort of global redirection of hyperlinks in groups, like a rename function?

Thanks in advance,

Under File->Properties, at the bottom, there is a "Hyperlink base" field.
If you type the root path e.g. "c:\myautocadfiles" and save the file.

(Please make a copy of the original file first!)

lf the .dwg files are located in "myautocadfiles" folder and its subfolders, you don't need to add the "c:\myautocadfiles" prefix to the hyperlinks it automatically picks it put from the hyperlink base.

The advantage of this is that whenever you move the "myautocadfiles" folder somewhere else, you only need to change the hyperlink base in the excel file for all the hyperlinks to work from the new location.

good luck
