I am in a Switch ****, please help!!!

By steven25061977 ·
I am studying for MCSE/CISCO, I have recently aquired an older switch from work which works great. It is labelled as a 'Madge Visage 16200T'

The problem is I would like to obtain configuration software from the manufacturer to look at its setup configure V-lans etc, basically to learn about switch configuration.

However I will be god-Dammed if I can find anything, MAdge seems to have went out of business, Luscent or avaya, or Lannet may have taken over though I cannot get anything from there sites. In short I am stuck, I have found software for a slightly higher model and it's manual, though without knowing the IP address I am stuck, It, has an address on it though this does not ping on any subnet. I have tried to use a network discovery tool to try finding it's address, to no avail, is there anybody who knows how to get config software ( i have tried windrivers) or how to acertain an IP address or MAc with no starting point.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Steven

You might have some success through their reps.
Select by geography and make a couple of phone calls.

Finding the IP address might not help,if you don't have the IP, you probably don't have the password. You might want to approach this from a "lobotomize and start over" methodology if this is not on an operational network.
