I can’t connect my new XP computer to ex

I cannot get a new Win XP machine to connect to my existing business network. I also cannot access the internet. I have a T1 lan connection to the internet. I haven’t used XP before. I am not computer illiterate- but this won’t work. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!
