I suspect a DNS issue.

Is the IP address statis or dynamically assigned (via DHCP)?

If static, double check all your settings, specifically the Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, and DNS server entries. Ensure they are correct for your network.

If the IP address is assigned by DHCP, ensure you are actually be assigned an appropriate IP address (type "ipconfig /all" from a command prompt). If XP cannot detect DHCP server, XP will automatically assign a private IP address. Since this address will not be consistent with your network, you will not be able to communicate with any other device. I have run into at least one instance where an XP machine would not find the DHCP server. I got around this by actually setting up a static IP adrress with the appropriate DNS settings, joining the domain, and then resetting TCP/IP properties to Obtain an IP address automatically.

An improper Subnet Mask will prevent you from communicating with any other device on the network. An improper Default Gateway setting will prevent access to any resources outside of your network. Improper settings for Primary DNS server will prevent URLs from being resolved.

I beleive it has something to do with the actual interface - have you tried to get new
drivers? Also, it could be the settings (as mentioned above)

Is it me or Xp is pretty ------ pretty ugly
