I can't Install NWlink on XP!!!

By llama ·
Here is the error...

Could not add the requested component. The error is: The specified path does not contain any applicable device.

I'm trying to add NWlink, but I get this error EVERY time! I've reinstalled the NIC and just replaced with a new NIC and still the same error. The new NIC is a 3Com 3C905CX-TX-M and XP Pro couldn't find the driver, I had to install it from the software, I'm wondering if XP is not aware of the drivers in I386 and how to fix it?

Thanks!

Also try 3Com's knowledgebase:

Here is the link to the driver of the nic.

xp doesn't have native support that network card.
I you have a 3c905-tx or 3c905b, those would work.

you could try to install tcp/ip and the windows update to look for updated drivers, but i suggest to use the driver for the 3com website or still better a driver that xp supports natively.
check out the hardware compatibillity site.

Go to www.driverguide.com login with "drivers" as user and password is "all" minus the quotes.
