So, what have you ACTUALLY installed at the moment?

by OldER Mycroft In reply to I changed the ram of my c ...

You lost me at the mention of the "because it was smelling burn before putting back the 128MB.I bought a 512MB"

Which memory module(s) now exist in the machine?

1GB alone ?
1GB + 128MB ?
1GB + 512MB ?
Other combination ?

Your purchase of 1GB would have been better accomplished as 2x512MB modules.

Have you tried the system back with the 128MB alone ?

Also what M'Board do you have

by OH Smeg In reply to So, what have you ACTUALL ...

It may not support the Size Ram that you bought or you may a different Spec RAM for it to work properly.

The Burning Smell is never a good sign and sounds like a Voltage Problem where the M'Board is suppling the wrong voltage for the RAM installed.
