Question

Locked

I dropped my laptop

By shorty83 ·
dropped my laptop on the floor. it landed on the power surge protector and broke the screen. I have hooked it up to my tv and it turns on and gets to the welcome screen then turns black but the mouse is still there. I also start it in safe mode and it loads approx 50 files then stops. Im wondering if this has something to do with the screen being broken or if something else happened to the hardware?

Well...

Could be some HD damage as well. Or it could be resolution incompatibility wth your TV, can't say I've tried that much before. I do know I have to lower my resolution when I am cloning to my old SDTV. I would have though Safe Mode would have been workable though, but that may be a weird Safe Mode driver issue.

I'd remove the HD and plug it into another system and backup the data ASAP just to make sure.

Scott

Yes Shorty

seems Scott may be right, hard drives don't at all like impact at all, especially if they are on and running at the time.
