I got a new toy today!!

By Tink! ·
and no, I don't mean THAT kind of toy (for those with minds in the gutter )

I got an iPod Nano. FREE! Yay! Couldn't believe it - I actually won a promo contest I saw in an APC mag. WHEEEE!

Ok, down to the serious stuff. I scanned the T&C quickly, and am a bit confused.

Can I install iTunes on more than 1 computer to be used with this single iPod?

Am I to understand that iPod Software Updates can only be downloaded to one computer?

I have itunes on multiple PCs. Be sure to write your ipod serial number on your itunes CD, as you will need that to install it.

computers to be authorized with your iPod.. at least that is what I was told with my iPod Touch. So my laptop, desktop (and hubby's desktop) and netbook are all tied into my iPod Touch (and all have iTunes installed) - My software updates regardless of which PC of choice I currently have it hooked up to.

On that same token - hubby's iPod is also tied into the same 4 computers mentioned above since we share an iTunes account.

The one word of caution at least this is how it works for my iPod touch - is I don't allow it to auto synch my music as when it checks the computer you have it hooked up to if it finds any music on your ipod not on your computer it removes it from your iPod.

iTunes confuses the shlt outta me.

there are so many issues I have with it, especially multiple devices.
I keep hearing how good and intuitive Apple SW is, but with my few experiences, it is worse than MS SW.
I got a $20 mp3 player that is easier to use/setup on my system than the Nano.

I have yet to find one...

.. that does everything I want, include everything I want, and not have some issues at some point.

The only issue I have so far with iTunes that drives me batty is after so many hours - all the graphics turn into broken links, so I'm forced to close it down and restart. I don't think it handles large collections very well. Over the last few months I've been slwoly updating each of my songs to include lyrics - since the Touch displays these. And at the same time adding in new songs, I've been ever so slowly ripping. Currently iTunes holds almost 4000 songs, and I still have tons and tons more to go and add. I also have like 25 movies I've ripped that is in my collection.

I prefer WinAmp though when it comes to listening to just play lists or Creatives Media 5

Tink you can install I Tunes as often as you like

by OH Smeg Moderator In reply to I got a new toy today!!

But unless the different Copies all have the same details in them for the contents of the I Pod whenever you plug into a different system it could and should delete any files not included on the I Pod in that copy of I Tunes these files should be deleted from the I Pod.

At least that is how I Tunes works with the I Pod Classic. As for Updates I just download to a Temp Folder on 1 system and install to the others that I have it on.

OH what was i supposed to be thinking as my mind is defiantly logged into the Gutter but I just thought you had got something that you enjoyed and I didn't have a clue what that would be. Honest.

I was having troubles with my work computer - it kept wanting to download a Software Update and wouldn't transfer any songs to the iPod.

At home however, I managed to get iTunes installed and working properly with my iPod - Yay.

Now I can download and listen to TR podcasts! - Double Yay!
