I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS.

I am unable to connect to my domain using my correct credentials. The error msg reads as follows: The following error occurred attempting to join the domain ""

An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a domain controller in the domain being joined has failed........
I am sure you don't need me to go on further.
Is there anyone out there who has experienced the same problem and found a resolution?
I also noticed that Remote Desktop Connection listed in Control Panel RemoteApp and Desktop Connections now states that the connection must be in format https//.......
Ok why the https?.....Remote Desktop Connection in the past never use to need the s.
Is there a fix for this? Has anybody run into this and found a resolution for this either?

Thanks,
Tony I

So, did you look in Help, as the remainder of that message suggests? Did you look in event logs? Did you check your TCP/IP config? Does the DC recognize this machine as being allowed on the network?

Answer: It was incredibly stupid, but SOP for MS not to require secure connections for these connections in the past. The "fix" is to use HTTPS. Why would you not?
