I need an extra NIC for my laptop, USB or PCMCIA?

By AdHards ·
I want to use an external NIC for a VM that I need to connect to a different network. I have heard USB ones are slow, are PCMCIA ones better and are there any other ways of doing it?

Well firstly you'll need a PCMCIA Slot

In your NB most new ones do not have this option.

However PCMCIA LAN Interfaces work exceptionally well and are very easy to use with the Hardware controlled by the OS at least. I'm not sure about a Virtual OS as I've never used one on a NB as they just haven't had the processing power necessary.

As for USB LAN Interfaces they work but are limited to the max speed of the USB Port that they are connected to. Now days they would be the more common connection with the current generation of NB's.
