I need help with Gboard, or a better app.

The Gboard on my new Motorola Stylus had two features I liked. First, text enhancements (bold, underline, italic). Second, a decently behaved auto correct. It replaced a misspelled word with one (usually) from the English language.
Then, it “updated” without being asked. Now the enhancement row is gone, and the corrections supplied by Baby Yoda on speedtheyare.

Is there an Android keyboard app that has enhancements? I’ve tried several from Google Play store without success.
I have Android 10 BTW, which is a nice phone.
I tried reinstalling Gboard to an earlier version but the minute I go for a cup of coffee it updates.

I see digger is here on TR, like me a refugee from Cnet and Speakeasy. ?
