First time here and was hoping can get some advice from those experts here. Today I fried my HD circuit board. If I'm not wrong it's the capacitor that was burned.
My questions are:
1) Can I just replace the circuit board with another circuit board from a same hard disk model?
2) Does the firmware version has to be the same for the above to work?
Hope you guys here can help. Thanks in advance.

1)As long has you don't have any security features enabled on your fried board, you can swap the board with an identical one. I've seen this work before. 2)This shouldn't matter.
You can try to replace the board, but it must be the same revision, check the board for an artwork identifier for the revision number. The firm ware must be the same base set, but some newer versions may still work. I'd inspect the board closely, if just the capacitor is blown, clean the area and try replacing it. Even some fried traces can be replaced but it tales some skill
