I have a problem and I am hoping you can help me with it.A friend of mine asked me to come over to his house and set up ics on his Win ME system. The other system that he wants to share his cable connection via cable modem with is a Win 95
machine. The host (WIN ME) machine has 2 nics in it , one for his lan and one for the cable modem. Does anyone have instructions on setting up both nics on the host and the nic on client machine. I already have them set up as follows: Host nic to cable modem is automatic for dhcp, host nic for lan is ip: 192.168.0.1, mask:255.255.255.0, gateway is ip issued by cable company to host. No dns and no wins. How should I set up the
TCP/IP->Internet Connection Sharing and how should I set up the client. I have the client on the 192.168.0 network now and can see it from the host in network places. When I enable the ics , I totally loose internet connection on host machine. Can you please step me through this. Thank you for any efforts you put towards this issue.
I’ve printed up all the material from MS Knowledge Base and it is not as detailed as I was hoping. I’ve set this up before on 2 Win98 machines and had no problem. I don’t know if WinME is different or if I am missing something.
