Resolved: Reinstalling IE 11 on Windows 10

By Nelvah ·
So IE 11 was not functioning on this computer so I ran the suggested command:

FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*11.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /quiet /norestart

Does anyone know a way to now install IE 11 again?

I've went to Microsoft's website and attempted install and it says it completes and requires a restart. After it restarts it's not there nor can I enable it through the windows features. Please let me know.

Unfortunately some websites only support IE as they were built there.

IE re-install

Try this:

Search in Settings for Manage optional features. In the window that opens, select the option to add a feature and select Internet Explorer 11 from the list. You'll get several UAC prompts through this process, but I was able to successfully test re-adding it through this method.

do you see a list of optional features under
Manage optional features - (+)add a Feature
if the list is blank, you have to enable WSUS in group policy to bypass Admin control on Windows updates

Thanks for the links. Ultimately I went with the reinstall. Backed up all of the users data first of course.

reinstalling IE 11 on windows 10.

place the following line in a file called restorehealth.ps1
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

then place the following in a batch file
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
powershell -file %~restorehealth.ps1 -executionpolicy bypass
@pause

place the batch file in the same directory as the restorehealth.ps1 file. Run the batch file as an administrator.
