After upgrading my Win 98 SE to Win 2K, I encountered some problems while surfing the Net.I m currently using I.E 5.0.
i) While at a website, as when need to access or click on a URL Link which would direct me to another link or website,it doesn’t work.The opening window, normally appear for accessing a website, is launched but there aren’t any contents inside, i.e it is blank, so I can’t see anything on the “address” at the toolbar.So, should I install I.E 6.0 together with srv pack 1 ,to see if problem go away? or is it a Windows or I.E settings problems?Hope I do not have to re-install Win 2K again.
Also, how to solve the problem when you click on the I.E explorer icon repeatedly for multi-window surfing,and yet only some of the launched window actually displayed a blank white screen.Think it is related to the above problem?Previously ,I have this problems also when running under Win 98 SE and when on muti-windows surfing, thre are alawys an error msg, “illegal operationoccurred,prompting for shut-down”,and the dat window will hang & stall.
ii)Secondly, my friend claimed that he visited a website site and upon login on next time,the site has taken over its default home Internet page when start-up.When he went to the “Internet Options” to reset the default homepage, he couldn’t change anything there as 3 of the buttons there seems to be disabled and thereby he can’t type in the wanted home page at the box.How to resolve this?Has a virus/hacker set in and control his P.C?
Please advise.Would appreciate if you attend to the problems promptly.
