IE 6 can’t connect to https://

I have been able to connect to whatever site I’ve attempted since I have had this Dell running XP Pro using IE as my browser. Last week I tried to connect to my bank account. I get to the “Home Page”. when I try to log on to MY ACCOUNT I get “Page can not be displayed”. I have set all ‘Internet options’ to default. I’ve tried a number of secure sites. Any https://www.anysite.com address returns the “Page can not be displayed” error page.

Any ideas thoughts similar trouble or creative BS would be appreciated.
