IE Crashes in XP-Pro

By sgo7 ·
Too frequently IE crashes with the message TMPROXY.EXE
Then any attemp to load a web page results in the error "Server not found" until I reboot.

What's with that?

tmpproxy.exe is an application *normally* run at start-up if you have installed Trend Micro PC-cillin 2003 antivirus software.

Unfortunatly,... there is no mentioning of this application in all of Trend Micro pages including their Knwledge Base articles.

... so I became ... very! very! curious ...

I put my troglodyte-mode hat and did this ... search ... to find this answer by PC-cillin 2003 Tech support to someone who asked about the same file.

Dear Sir:
A very pleasant day to you! Thank you very much for your prompt reply. Regarding your concerns, the TMProxy.EXE file inside the PC-cillin 2003
folder is the WebMailScan and WebTrap agent or service application. This module will scan Web based emails and likewise HTML page module. Scanning of Web based emails is a new future included in this version.

This includes HTML, OCX and Java modules. It also
checks the URL filter if you have the Site filter feature enabled. In line with this, can you
provide me the exact error message you ncountered so I can further analyze your concerns.

We hope this proves helpful to you. Please let us
know if all goes well.
Sincerely yours,
Norman J. Santos
