IE6 and WIN98 and VERIZON

By cat1service ·
I am doing network upgrades for a company and one of their machines is windows 98se I installed ie6 sp1. I installed this on the other machines which have windows xp.

The problem is when they loging to their dsl web email site, the xp machines have no problems, but the win98 machine has every look that it is authenticateing correctly and downloads the objects but at the last second it hangs on the last image and redirects back to the initial login prompt. I get no errors and no login failure messages on the site.

I tried to call verizon to see if I could get their internet explorer requirment to view the site but they had none. I have tried to change ie settings but to no avail...what the **** is going on?

corrupt cookie or temp file

You might be having a problem with a corrupt cookie or temp file. I have had the same issue and by deleting the cookies and temp internet files resolved the issue. I went directly to the folders and deleted the files that way instead of using internet options.

yeah I already tried that, I think it is win98 and not internet explorer because I installed netscape and have the same problem. I think I downloaded a security update from microsoft and it block a hole that it shouldnt have.

The problem with win98 is that It only shows some of the security updates in add remove programs.

I guess my next question is how do I roll back all of the windows updates? Is there a folder that I can delete them out of?
