IE7 crashes if set for tabbed home page

By david_dcsa ·
Internet Explorer 7 running on XP Pro. If I configure IE7 for a two-tabbed home page. IE7 crashes when started from that point forward. The only way to restore IE7 then is to enter a URL into the XP Run command box to open IE without tabs and delete one of the Home Page tabs. I found nothing about this via a Google search; has anyone else encountered this?

You can try IE8, this is a very good browser.

Or if you want one of the best then use Firefox, this browser does tabs very good.
I use Firefox nearly all the time.

Please post back if you have any more problems or questions.

You Might Try....

Right clicking the IE Icon on your desktop and selecting "Start Without Add-Ons". I have found some issues with various plug ins that i have loaded on my work machine. If it works without Add-Ons, go into your internet options and disable the ones you don't think you need until you have it working the way you want it.

Problem caused by presence of update KB951748

by david_dcsa In reply to You Might Try....

Thanks very much for the tips. I have found that the problem is induced by the presence of Microsoft Update KB951748. Elimination of same resoves the problem. Unfortunately, in our corporate environment, eliminating the patch is not an option. I will inform our users that a tabbed home page is no option at this time. I will test MSIE8. If it resolves the issue, we may be able to adopt it once it is out of Beta. Thanks again for the assistance.
