IFSMGRVXD driver

by dmiles In reply to IFSMGRVXD driver

many fatal exception errors occur because of conflicting drivers, TSRs and other settings loaded when your computer starts. In many cases there are conflicts with third party software, with the usual remedy being to rename the offending file or remove the offending program. The error message in your case indicates a conflict with ifsmgr.vxd which is a virtual device driver in C:\Windows\System\VMM32\ which is part of the Win 98 operating system. The plan is to restart your computer in safe mode(by holding down the Ctrl key), then find the corrupted file using Start>Find>Files or Folders. When the file shows in the dialog box>right-click it for Rename and call it ifsmgr.xxx>press the Enter key. Insert your Win 98 CD-Rom, holding down the Shift key to prevent autostart. Then click Start>Run>type:"sfc" in the field and press Enter to open the System File Checker. Select "Extract one file from the installation disk">type: ifsmgr.vxd>Start>in the Restore From box type: \Win98>in the Save In box type: C:\Windows\System\VMM32\>OK>Restart.
