illegal operation

when i open my .doc file from windows explorer by double clicking on icon, it becomes a “.exe” file and becomes useless.why is it so.?this problem has come in all computers which are connected through LAN. If it is a virus, then what is its solution(without formatting drives..)

Sounds like the W32.Blebla worm. Go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp, enter your country, and scan your entire PC.

I don’t believe there is any way to recover the original docs from this worm. 🙁
