Illustrator 10 freezes on startup

I have a copy of Adobe Illustrator 10. When I start the program, it goes through and scans for plug-in’s etc. then hanges on “Illustrator.exe”. Illustrator.exe is running under my Processes tab in Task manager, and it seems to fluctuate. In additionmy Process is pinned at 100%. I’ve uninstalled all Adobe apps, and re-installed Illustrator, but the same thing happens. I have a P3-1Ghz with 384MB RAM.
