I’ve recently had the mainboard replaced on an HP server, and so the iLo configuration has changed, but the engineer left before telling me the new password or setting IP etc.
I used HPONCFG /w ilo_cfg.xml to get the config details. I amended IP details and the password in this xml file, and ran HPONCFG /f ilo_cfg.xml.
It reset the iLo IP address, so I can remote to the iLo login screen, but I am unable to actually login, it returns “iLO has detected a failed login attempt. Cause: Unauthorized. Please wait for login prompt.”
So it seems HPONCFG is changing the IP details, but not the password.
I have full local admin, domain admin rights, I can log in locally as administrator if required. I just don’t have physical access to the server. Is there any other way to do this? Using HP system management tools, or HP insight tools etc?
Any help would be appreciated, and feel free to PM me if you don’t want to post details that could be construed as “workarounds”.
I could get someone to get onto the server physically, but that would mean at least another day without iLo, and possibly another reboot.
Thanks.
