Congratulations on your first ever post at TR

I hope you stick around. This website tends to be top heavy with gung-ho pro Bush Republicans.

I'll make a challenge to you. You list all of the "top heavy gung-ho pro Bush Republicans" of whom you speak, and I'll make a list list of just the opposite.

I'd bet you a cold beverage that my list would be longer than yours.

You're probably right Max

I wonder why that is, that there are fewer pro bush republicans but he still got elected?

Oh for crying out loud!

That's not what I said. I was talking about the people who post messages in these threads.

But you knew that, didn't you? And you decided to be cute, twist words, and say something stupid.

And Julian, you wonder why "disingenuous" is one of my favorite ways to describe people around here.

Probably not deliberately disingenuous

just hasty and not thought through.

You're probably right. . . . .

But I just seem to have less and less patience for people trying to be "cute", twisting words, all for the sake of making some off-the-wall point. And it really violates, what I consider to be, the first and most important rule of successful communication. Seek first to understand, then to be understood. (Thank you Stephen Covey.) But I would probably do better to just ignore it. Besides, trying to change it is probably like pi$$ing into the wind.

Why talk so much?

by chinmoy1955 In reply to You're probably right. . ...

As you say "I would probably do better to just ignore it", then why don't you shut up and simply ignore? Why give so many explanations and points of view? It makes you look cheap and unimportant!!

Now that is funny

You are probably correct, Max

by jardinier In reply to Hey Julian

Most of the formerly pro-Bush Republicans withdrew from these miscellaneous threads around the middle of 2004 when even Blind Freddy could not deny that the invasion of Iraq was not going as smoothly as anticipated.

Of the small number of Republicans who continued to post, many expressed horror when Bush was re-elected.

So yes, quite possibly you are correct. Quite likely there is now a higher proportion of moderate or left-wing Americans who are continuing to post.

And I invite you to make that your last, gardener

If "This website tends to be top heavy with gung-ho pro Bush Republicans," it's equally bottom heavy with bunghole pro bush-cultivating mystics.

If you were competent to form a rational argument to support your premises you would have done so. Instead, you support your claims only by characterizing the personalities of people who disagree with you. Until you defend your premises, rational people don't consider them.
