    IMEI Driver Issue Y50

    by edwardsmateresa ·

this one is driving me INSANE! I have a Lenovo Y50 laptop, owned from new. I noticed recently that it is really slow when booting up. It has an SSD and used to boot in seconds.

I’ve managed to narrow down the issue to the Intel Management Engine Interface driver. On Device Manager it shows a code 10 error. I’ve tried updating the driver but it says the best one is installed. I’ve also manually downloaded and installed it from the Lenovo website.

If I remove the device and drivers, the next boot up happens in about 10 seconds, but then it auto installs the device and latest driver and I’m back to square one!

I’ve now updated BIOS from Lenovo website too and the same is still happening.

I can’t seem to find an older version of the driver or prevent it being updated automatically. It’s driving me nuts – any suggestions?

How old is the computer? Have you reached out to their customer support for help? Is it still under warranty? Typically, when using the term IMEI, we are referring to a cell phone.

I know for Windows 10 that we can disable automatic driver updating.
