Importing Eudora to Outlook 2003

By tjw ·
Even though Outlook pretends it will import Eudora mail and addresses, it doesn't. Does someone have a work-around or a fix for this problem? I am trying to migrate from Eudora 6.1 to Outlook 2003.

to my knowledge (disclaimer) there are no known issues importing Eudora mail and addresses into Outlook. That being said, You have to have Outlook opened with a PST or Exchange Mailbox to import into. Also, you need to have the Eudora data files on the same machine as Outlook.

Use File/Import/Internet Mail and Addresses and there shouldn't be any issue.

You indicated that Outlook "pretends" to perform the import. What is the result? Any dialogs? Errors?

Hope this helps

Custom default folder?

by LonePalm58 In reply to Importing Eudora to Outlo ...

I had the same problem. Outlook kept telling me I had no Eudora information to import. The problem seemed to stem from the fact I'd set up a custom folder for my default messages instead of the one Eudora wanted to set up.
I fixed it by changing my Eudora folder back to the default location that the installation program wanted to create. Importing then - messages, mailboxes and addresses - all went smoothly.
