Importing Excel into Outlook ... Error occuring

I've read a few posts on how to import an excel file into the outlook calendar but when I try I get this error:

"An error has occured in the MS Excel translator while getting the contents of a file system.

The MS Excel file " .... " has no named ranges. Use MS Excel to name the range of data you want to import."

So obviously it's not recognising my data, but I'm not sure what it means by naming the range of data I want to import?? I have a workbook with 4 spreadsheet, each with 5 columns containing the info I want, one of which has the date I need ... how do I let Outlook know that's the date I need it to be on the Calendar?

Sorry if this has an easy solution, I'm not all that technologically savvy so any help would be greatly appreciated.
