Importing Pictures & Videos in Win 10 as Was Done in Win 7
LockedIt seems that with every new version of Windows the functionality of the default method of importing photos & videos changes. The method in Win 7 allowed for the naming & numbering of files with the same name (plus date) being applied to the folder. The discreet name was always asked for by default. This allowed the saving of media in a meaningful way that was the same independent of operating system. The new default program in Win 10 does not allow The discreet label to applied to the folder, leaving just the date for the folder name. I had a shortcut to the old Import Pictures and Video on my desktop which became non-functional after the upgrade to Win 10. After spending the day attempting to find a program that would easily allow for the importation and renaming of the files i stumbled across the command (“%SystemRoot%\system32\rundll32.exe” “%SystemDrive%\Program Files\Windows Photo Viewer\photoAcq.dll”,PhotoAndVideoAcquire) which would start the old style import program. I have made a shortcut (even with the old icon which is stored with photoAcq.dll) which functions beautifully.
I apologize for the long introduction but perhaps the foregoing information may be useful to someone. My problem now is to get the program on the autoplay list. I know there must be a registry setting that controls the list but I am not quite ready to start blindly hacking the registry. I would appreciate any information on the exact location of the autoplay list in the registry and if there are other entries that besides the list that must be made.
Thank you in advance for your time.
